Hi Capt Rob,

In your book, it mentions that living aboard a boat is just one way to live the pirate lifestyle.  What is an example of how a land-based freedom-loving pirate would live?

Excellent question! I am glad you asked.

The important point to remember -- sailing the seven seas of freedom and living the pirate lifestyle – is about living in the here and now. Living in the present, living life each and every day, and not deferring life until later.

Also, finding the thing you love, whatever you are truly passionate about, what excites you and doing it. Reducing the “noise” of the modern world and living a debt-free, simpler lifestyle.

So you can live on a sailboat like we do, or a cabin on a lake, or a rural farm, or an apartment in a big city. The physical place isn’t important your state of mind is what is most important.

Life is a game, life is an illusion, and no one gets out alive. Be genuine, be authentic, be true to yourself.

I hope this helps…

there's pirates in these here mountains, too!  cannons, rum runners, land yachts, and the occasional plank walkers!

Although the freedom to do what you want, when you want to, can be wonderful, keep in the mind the words from that old song - "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose."

Make sure that you haven't given up what you treasure for the freedom to do just what you "like".

True Freedom is the ability to do those things that matter to you, when they matter to you.

The freedom I had when together we faced my wife's illness and death, brought me infinite joy, because everything I did was motivated by the deisre to make her happy. Tthe freedom I have now, when I have only myself to make happy, although it is not without joy, cannot hold a candle to the joy we had together.

Before you decide on what freedom is for you, find out what is truly important in your life. That j.o.b. may provide more than an income.
