Mine has!

I am a land locked sailor counting the days until we are free. Every decision we make ultimately boils down to ..... Does this bring me closer to our launch date and will it fit on the boat?   So tell me ..... When does freedom start for you?

Great plan. If it is moving you closer to your goal (launch date) do more of it and if it is moving you away from your goal do less of it.

Interesting question

We still havent found the boat - but we are getting closer and closer every day.

We are downsizing, trying to save and don't purchase anything that wont go on the boat.

So...maybe 3 years.

Thanks Rob !

Jen, AWESOME!

We are searching for our boat too. We are counting down 34 months or sooner. We found out fairly early that this Debt game everyone plays ... is not for us. We choose to go against the tide of conventional thinking and choose to pick our own retirement dates. Retire from a J.O.B. (Just Over Broke) that is.

It is a mindset thing really..

I didn't take my own advice and stayed working long after I should have retired... but once I took the step have never looked back again...

Used to think I will work a little longer save a little more!! but in the end result it didn't make any difference... now free of the 8-5 rat race I have never been better off health and body wise... just do it ...believe me the lifestyle is wonderful... a bad day boating is better than a good week at work anytime !!

I found the boat a 1980 33' Hunter and now the work begins, getting her ready.   ALOT of cleaning, painting and alittle engine work.  The 1st  step is done, now on to the 2nd.

I waited too long. Although my wife and I had a couple of good years of "freedom" we never got to do nearly the things we wanted to before she passed away this spring. Things that seemed great for two, just lack the sizzle for one.

Mridea I am so sorry for your loss and understand the lack of sizzle. If my husband wasnt around I probably wouldnt work towards the cruising life.

Well in other news...the 3 yr plan was moved up to TWO DAYS AGO.

Well in other news...the 3 yr plan was moved up to TWO DAYS AGO. We found our dream boat (pardon the pun) in St. Petersburg FL.  The papers have been signed and now we wait for better weather.  We are very, very excited and I have to thank Rob for his encouragment on those days when we stumbled along the way.

We feel very blessed and look forward to bringing "On On" to Corpus.  Soon I will be online complaining about how to get rid of all the stuff in our 2300 sq. ft. home LOL.

Thanks Rob and to everyone else that encouraged us along the way!!

Hey Rob,

When we arrived in Tampa last weekend and headed to St. Petersburg we expected St. Pete's to be a sleepy coastal town.  WHOA were we wrong!  That city goes on and on and on.  We had a great trip though and cant wait to sail the boat to Corpus.

I am impatient as usual

Jen, remember that life starts now. Part of your future is getting ready for it. Make sure that you enjoy that part also. Don't spend the "now" getting ready to enjoy the "then". Make now, then   :>)
