It's Not About the What Ever

Pirate Lifestyle TV ™ Quickie 010

This quickie is about focusing on what is important. It's not about the bike!

An all too common excuse I hear is, "if only I had a better whatever."

I could play better golf if I had better clubs.

I could make better videos if I had a better camera.

If I had a better job.

If I had better clothes.

If I had a better car.

If I had a better whatever!

I am sure you can think of plenty of examples of whatever's people around you use.

Do what must be done as if your life depends on you getting it done, because it does...

Great video Cap'n. You are exactly right. Tools do not a carpenter make. A great carpenter can produce excellent work with low quality tools. Me on the other hand, with the best of tools I still turn lumber into scrap at an amazing rate ;)

We are always apprehensive when starting something new, so we seize on any excuse not to get started. After all, we might fail! Great isn't winning every time, it's getting up from failure and carrying on.

A good salesman expects to make one sale for four calls, so he knows that every failure is a step closer to a sale.

I would think that the Pareto principle works here - 80% of the work produces 20% of the results, while 20% produces 80% of the results. The only problem is that we need to do 100% of the work to see any results. So as my grampa used to say, "Pitter patter. Just get at 'er."

If you are having trouble making a decision as what to do, remember, that doing nothing is also a decision.

There may be a thousand reasons to delay getting started on a project, but they don't matter. Why? Because you'll make way more money from a project implemented poorly, than one that is not implemented at all.

Whew! Got a little stoked there for a minute ;)
