Ever imagine what it must have been like for people to cross an ocean in a boat hundreds of years ago? Heading to London from New York? Better plan on spending weeks and weeks onboard, and you definitely better bring some reading material. These days, to go to a whole other city or country or even continent, all you have to do is pack a bag, head off to the airport, sit on a plane for a few hours, and presto--show up in that new city or country or continent. Traveling is great and everything, but not many people really, truly travel anymore. I mean, really travel, as in, take in their world as they pass from point A to point B.
And that's something that's great about the Pirate Lifestyle. When you change your way of thinking, you'll start to enjoy the process of moving just as much as the final destination. Remember: life is about action, living your dreams, and having fun. Sitting passively on a plane, crowded like cattle? No, thanks. Not for this pirate.
If you love to travel but just don't have the time because of work or bills or other obligations, adopting the Pirate Lifestyle is exactly what you need to make your dreams a reality. The Pirate Lifestyle is all about shaking up your world and seeing new things and choosing the path you want to take.
What does that mean for you, my pirate friend? Well, only you can decide that. But in general, it means slowing down. It means taking a deep breath, understanding what it is you want, and then taking action to achieve it.
I have a friend who was recently in China on business. This friend happens to be a pretty high-powered bank executive, and on this particular trip, he was in Beijing. He had exactly two weeks in China, and by the end of the trip, he had to be in Shanghai. That's about the same distance from New York to Cleveland. I spoke to friend a few days into his trip, and he was so stressed out. I told him he needed to ask himself what a pirate would do. And so instead of flying those 800 miles, he canceled his meetings and booked himself on one of the river cruises (URL: River Cruises ) that go down the Yangtze. By the time he got to Shanghai, he had a smile on his face, a great tan, and he was ready to take on his next challenge.
This is what the Pirate Lifestyle is all about. Slow down, pirates. Take in the scenery. Don't be afraid of really traveling. And never forget to fly your skull 'n crossbones.
